Tsunami Disaster: How to Help

Families of September 11 is greatly saddened by the news of the tsunami-generating earthquake off the northwest coast of Sumatra this past weekend. For those with missing family members in the region, the State Department has set up a toll-free number: 888-407-4747.

According to USAID, an independent federal government agency, the most effective way people can assist relief efforts is by making cash contributions to humanitarian organizations that are conducting relief operations.
