The Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC, has a September 11th "collection" that is meant to document what happened on September 11, 2001, and preserve for future generations memories and items from that horrible day (http://americanhistory.si.edu/september11/). The curator has told Families of September 11 that the vast majority of the stories that are being told and shared with the Smithsonian are of males who were killed that day and that the Smithsonian is now looking to obtain recovered objects from women who were killed that day. Any families who lost mothers, daughters, sisters, etc. who might be willing to donate to the Smithsonian recovered objects (e.g., jewelry, ID cards, electronic devices, desk objects, watches, clothing, purses, etc.) should contact David Shayt at email@example.com or (202) 633-3596.
