We would like to thank those of you who have completed the “9-11 Grief Survey” we introduced a few weeks ago.  Those who began the survey but haven’t yet completed in the one week allotted can now click a link at the site that will allow for an extension. We would also like to urge anyone who lost a family memberor close friend on 9/11 to take time to complete the survey by clicking on this link: http://www.9-11survey.org

This first of several surveys, which must be completed by June 30th, is being conducted by Columbia University and the Boston University School of Medicine in association with The New York State Psychiatric Institute, the VA New England Healthcare System, the National Center for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Families of September 11 (FOS11).  According to FOS11 Board member Don Goodrich, who collaborated with Dr. Yuval Neria, although the survey might bring up uncomfortable feelings, “we owe it to those who may come after us into this difficult place to participate in this study.”  It is expected that the findings generated by this survey will promote a better understanding of the relationships between trauma and grief.Your feedback and suggestions regarding the survey are welcome and important to the study.  If you have questions about the study or the survey, please contact Dr. Yuval Neria at the New York State Psychiatric Institute at 212-543-5367 or by email at ny126@columbia.edu.
