Dear FOS11 Member,
The National 9/11 Memorial & Museum is bringing steel I-beams that will be used in the construction of the Memorial to Washington, DC for the public to sign on Friday and Saturday, July 3 and 4 from 10:00am -7:00pm. The beams will be located outside of the Newseum on Pennsylvania Avenue at Sixth Street NW.
In the past two years, the National 9/11 Memorial & Museum has brought steel I-beams to 27 states across the country. The public is invited to “be a part of history” by signing these beams. Since the first beam signing in Columbia, SC, tens of thousands of people have added their names and reflections to the steel that will be used in the construction of the national memorial to the victims of 9/11 at the World Trade Center site in New York City.
Also, you are invited to participate in the First Signature Ceremony at 10:00am on Friday, July 3. The ceremony will mark the beams’ arrival in our nation’s capitol, open the signing up to the public, and bring the community together to reflect not just on the events of 9/11 but, equally as important, on the spirit that emerged around the world in the aftermath of the attacks.
