May 31, 2006 The law provides for 250 weeks of continuous benefit which, in the case of claims beginning September 12, 2001 - ends on June 26, 2006. You may have already received information or contact from the company handling the potential renewal of your claim. There is a process which must be followed in order to petition for renewal of the claim. The Massachusetts 9/11 Fund is pursuing this at a policy level - connecting with our elected leadership at the federal and state levels - requesting consideration for the 9/11 families receiving this benefit - in the hope that there will be some pressure placed on companies looking to discontinue benefits. The Massachusetts 9/11 Fund will be holding an informational session at the fund with a noted attorney in Massachusetts who specializes in Worker's Compensation claims. PLEASE RSVP as soon as you can to express your potential interest in this: Massachusetts 9/11 Fund, Inc. In the interim, even if you do not take advantage of this informational session, please call us if you have any concerns about mail you might be receiving with regards to the potential termination of this benefit.
