Dear FOS11 Member,
Below is a letter from the Office of United States Senator Jon S. Corzine (New Jersey) describing a letter writing campaign in support of the Fallen Heroes of 9/11 Act (S.1423). To contact your Senator to encourage them to support this legislation, visit www.senate.gov and enter your state. To learn more about the Fallen Heroes of 9/11 Act, please click here or visit http://thomas.loc.gov and enter "Fallen Heroes of 9/11 Act" in the search tool at top.
I am writing this note to ask your help with a letter writing campaign.
Last week The Fallen Heroes of 9/11 Act (S.1423) was introduced to the United States Senate. The Fallen Heroes of 9/11 Act would provide for a medal of appropriate design to be awarded by the President to the next of kin or other representative of those killed as a result of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
The entire text of the legislation (S.1423) can be found at thomas.loc.gov (no www or http).
The bill needs 67 co-sponsors; at present it has 27 bipartisan sponsors. Please check the list at the end of this letter and write to any senator in any state not on the list. It is important to send the letter to a Senator’s home office; letters sent to Washington D.C. offices are irradiated for anthrax and take an extended period of time to reach the intended destination. If an e-mail or fax is easier for you, please use them. Mailing information about all senators is available on the Internet -- have your friend and family members write too. Please do not send multiple copies of the same duplicated letter with different signatures, as personal notes from many different constituents are more impressive.
This is our opportunity to see that everyone who lost their life on September 11, 2001, is treated in a fair and equitable manner. If every Senator receives enough letters our voice will be heard.
