Second Public Panel Convenes Monday, June 13

The 9/11 Public Discourse Project (the nonprofit successor organization to the 9/11 Commission) will hold a panel discussion Monday, June 13, 2005, on the subject of "Challenges Facing the Director of National Intelligence." The panel, which is open to the public, will take place at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, DC, from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

The June 13 panel is the second in a series of public events the 9/11 Public Discourse Project has scheduled to examine progress made in implementing recommendations in the 9/11 Commission Report. John F. Lehman, a member of the 9/11 Commission, and a former Secretary of the Navy, will moderate the panel. He will be joined by the Hon. Jane Harman, Ranking Minority Member on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and a leader in the passage of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004; Adm. William O. Studeman, a member of the President’s Commission on the Intelligence Capabilities of the United States Regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD Commission), and a former Deputy Director of Central Intelligence; and Siobhan Gorman, Staff Correspondent for National Journal, who has written extensively on intelligence reform and the evolving role of the DNI.
