First Public Panel, on CIA and FBI Reform, Convenes June 6
The 9/11 Public Discourse Project will be holding a series of public events on the status of the Commission recommendations, one year after the release of the 9/11 Commission Report. The series is titled "The 9/11 Recommendations: The Unfinished Agenda."
The first public panel, on CIA and FBI Reform, will be moderated by 9/11 Commissioner, and former Deputy Attorney General of the United States, Jamie S. Gorelick. The panel will feature Richard Thornburgh; former Attorney General of the United States; John Gannon, former Chairman of the National Intelligence Council; and Chitra Ragavan, staff writer for US News and World Report.
The series will culminate in a late July (most likely July 25) press conference, at which the Commissioners will issue a "report card" assessing the government's progress in implementing needed reforms.
