Thanks to all the Families of September 11 members who continue to actively work to fulfill the organization's mission to support public policies that improve the prevention of and response to terrorism. In the last three weeks, several of our Board Members have presented testimony to Senate and House committees convened to discuss the 9/11 Commission recommendations and broader issues of safety and security. Working with the Families Steering Committee and other families groups, FOS11 continues to be "on the ground" in DC and elsewhere, speaking on behalf of the Commission’s recommendations and urging members of the Executive and Legislative branches to act responsibly, decisively and quickly.

On August 19, 2004, at the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing titled "The 9/11 Commission and Recommendations for the Future of Federal Law Enforcement and Border Security," testimony by FOS11 Board Chairman Don Goodrich was put into the record by Senator Patrick Leahy. Read Don Goodrich's testimony.

On August 17, 2004, FOS11 Board Member Stephen Push testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs. Titled "Voicing a Need for Reform: The Families of 9/11," this Senate hearing also included testimony by Mary Fetchet and Kristen Breitweiser. Read Stephen Push's testimony.

On August 3, 2004, FOS11 Board Member Robin Wiener testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Government Reform. Titled "Moving from 'Need to Know' to 'Need to Share,'" this hearing also included testimony by Beverly Eckert and Sally Regenhard. Read Robin Wiener's testimony.
