9-11 2004: Commemoration Activities and Memorials Worldwide
Last year, with your participation, FOS11 generated a list of over 85 memorial events and commemoration activities occurring around the world in honor of 9/11 and those who were lost. Some events were organized by public officials; others were small ceremonies in communities or the homes of families who were directly affected. Regardless of the activity, our members received an updated event list from FOS11 that included the time, date and contact information for the program or ceremony.
Help us to help FOS11 members again. Let us know about 9/11 memorial and commemoration activities that are being organized in your community this fall. At the same time, we’d like to know if there are memorials in your town or nearby – nothing that commemorates the event is too small to be included. Send your memorial and commemoration event information (location, time, date, email, phone, etc.) or information about the memorials (location, photos, any “history”) to firstname.lastname@example.org and write “9/11 Commemoration Event” in the subject line. You can call us at 212-575-1878 if you prefer to tell us about the event by phone.
Below please view examples of a local 9/11 commemoration event (from 2003) and information about a 9/11 memorial (2002):
September 11, 2003, Cupertino, CA
There will be a 9/11 event at BJ’s. De Anza Blvd., Cupertino. To RSVP, please send an e-mail to http://email@example.com.
Idaho 9/11 Memorial – “The New Monument” (2002)
September 11, 2002 – Dedication, Emmett, ID
The Idaho 9/11 Memorial site was dedicated on September 11, 2002. 1,000 people attended the event and Idaho’s Governor was the keynote speaker. The memorial site consists of a 60 foot flag pole with a 10x15 foot American flag, an engraved monument, a beautiful stone wall and a brick walkway. This fall another memorial ceremony is being planned. Details about the event will be shared in the next few weeks. To learn more about “The New Monument” please contact Jim Olson by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
